UPDATE: Holyport have informed us the date the plans will go in front of the council have been pushed back after a site visit was requested.

Planned improvements to Holyport FC’s Summerleaze ground are due to be heard by Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead officials next week.

The Combined Counties League Premier Division North side are hoping to build a new ticket office and catering facilities on the site at Summerleaze Road and plans go in front of planning officials on the 13th January.

Port made significant improvements to existing facilities in the summer with club secretary Richard Tyrell explaining: “We’ve ripped up the hospitality room floor and re-laid it with a new vinyl covering, painted all the walls and added a nice backboard detailing our history. The small kitchen area inside the hospitality area has also been ripped out and reinstated. In addition, the away dressing room has had a fresh coat of paint with new vinyl flooring laid. All lights have been moved over to LED. The home dressing room has had four new showers fixed too.”

Now they hope officials will grant permission for further off the pitch improvements and have asked for some local support for the plans. There are two ways this can be done:

  1. Register with the RBWM and comment here: https://publicaccess.rbwm.gov.uk/
  2. Send an email to planning@rbwm.gov.uk and richardtyrell@googlemail.com – please ensure Application 21/03225/FULL is in the title

On the pitch, it was certainly a baptism of fire for manager Derek Sweetman on his and the clubs return to step 5 of the English Football Pyramid.

Holyport are bottom of the league with three wins and two draws from 20 games but remain very much in touch with the clubs above them, four points is all that separates the teams between 14th and 18th in the eighteen team division.

Focus on and off the pitch will certainly be on the council meeting on the 13th, but things will swiftly toward a key fixture at home to 15th placed Virginia Water – Ports next game – on the 15th January.
