Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division Flackwell Heath have announced the departure of manager Marcus Richardson after nearly four years in charge.
Richardson, formerly in charge of Highmoor IBIS, took over at Wilks Park in November 2017 from Paul Shone.
A statement released by the Heathens on Social Media said: “Flackwell Heath can confirm that the club and Marcus Richardson, the First Team Manager, have parted company.
“The club would like to show their appreciation for Marcus’ efforts and would like to thank him for the way he conducted himself during his tenure.
“Marcus joined the club during a difficult time and his hard work will always be remembered, as well as the good times we shared both on and off the pitch.”
Arguably the highlight of Richardson’s tenure at Wilks Park was the run to the quarter finals of the 2020/21 FA Vase where a 2-0 defeat very much against the run of play by US Portsmouth ended dreams of a Wembley run-out.
As well as being a former Highmoor player, Reading-born Richardson is a well-travelled former Football League player, noting Cambridge United, Lincoln City, Hartlepool United and Yeovil Town, as well as non-league clubs Windsor & Eton, Farnborough and Reading Town amond his former clubs.
Richardson wrote on Twitter: “Been looking for words to say. That sounds right to put up. I have had a great time with Flackwell met some lovely people there who I can now call a friend but everything must come to an end. I am certain there be new adventures coming soon.”
