Wokingham & Emmbrook are back at step 5 next season and are preparing for life in the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier Division North with the appointment of a new coach.

Sam Wilson is the new man in at Lowther Road, joining from CCL newcomers Berks County and he takes up the role of Head Coach.

The Sumas have released a statement to Football in Berkshire surrounding the move: “Wokingham & Emmbrook FC are delighted to announce that Sam Wilson has joined the club as Head Coach within the first team set up. Sam works as a full-time coach for Elite Preparation Centre and Reading FC Academy and has left his current role with Berks County to join the Sumas as they prepare for their upcoming campaign in the Combined Counties Premier League.”

Wokingham joint manager Dan Bateman said: “We are chuffed that Sam has agreed to come across. Both myself and Matt [Egglestone] felt it was important that with the move up to Step 5 we bring in a coach that will improve the quality of training alongside fresh ideas and a different voice in the changing rooms. Sam is a young ambitious coach who we are confident will be a huge success with the club.

“All at Wokingham & Emmbrook FC would like to thank Berks County FC for there handling of the move,” he added.

Wokingham kick-off their 2021/22 pre-season campaign on Saturday hosting Wallingford Town. A full list of Sumas pre-season fixtures is here.
