Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Division One side Eversley & California have launched a competition to win £5,000 of sponsorship prizes with the club.

Utilising the popular lockdown Twitter poll tournament format, the club are to give away a FREE shirt sponsorship deal to the winner plus a pitch side banner, a free full-page advert in our match day programme and website advertising for the entire season.

A statement from the Boars explains they are aiming to give local businesses some much needed exposure: “With the current difficulties the country is facing now more than ever is a time for everyone to pull together. We have created this competition with a view to help businesses gain much needed exposure with zero cost as we ease out of lockdown.

First team manager Matt Angell said: “I’m delighted that we can help support businesses in this way which is key as we hopefully move back to some form of normality. Something that has always been key to me is giving back to all those businesses that help support the non-league scene as without there support and the loyal fans we wouldn’t be able to continue to play the game we all love and have missed very much is these very difficult times.”

How will a Twitter competition help your business?

You might be wondering how a Twitter poll competition might benefit your company, regardless of whether you are the eventual winner. In our experience running the Berkshire Virtual County FA Cup, the exposure off the back of the polls is invaluable.

A couple of things happened to our Twitter account while we were running it in May, firstly we picked up 500+ new followers – the majority we could see were local and in to their non league football so perfect for us. The second saw us connect with a whole bunch of teams we’d never spoken to before and I’ve no doubt the networking opportunities for your business will be the same.

Both of those benefits though will only arrive if you, are your social media team properly engage with the polls when they go up. In our competition, we had clubs posting team sheets, running commentaries and urging people to vote for them and running player of the match polls. Hard work yes, but those were the clubs that really benefited from the competition we held.

And of course, if you win, you get your business logo on an Eversley & California shirt next season.
