Hungerford Town Swifts have revealed their intentions to apply for a place in Hellenic League Division Two for the 2020/2021 season.

Swifts played North Berkshire League football from 2015 to 2017 and won the North Berks League Division Two in 2016/2017.

Hungerford Town also had a reserve team that played in the Hellenic League Division One East from 2010 to 2012.

Hungerford Town Swifts, the Crusaders website revealed, will be looking to emulate Berkshire clubs like Langley and Chalvey Sports who have had very successful seasons in Hellenic League Division Two in recent years. The club are aiming to play their fixtures at Hungerford Town’s Bulpit Lane ground.

The Hellenic League is already light going in to the 2020/21 season with Brackley Town Saints withdrawing from the Premier Division. The step 5 division had already been running a team short since the start of the 2018/19 season when Oxford City Nomads withdrew while the summer of 2019 saw Ascot United move to the Combined Counties League with Chipping Sodbury Town expected to replace them – The Sods though appealed the move and remained in the Western League.

It’s been a busy summer at Bulpit Lane already with new manager Danny Robinson signing up a number of players for the 2020/21 Vanarama National League season.
