As far as unveiling new managers go, the Coronavirus pandemic makes things a little bit difficult for clubs to confirm these things in a traditional way.
Vanarama National League South side Hungerford Town though came up with a socially-distanced way around the issue with the announcement of Danny Robinson as the clubs new manager for the 2020/21 season, whenever that may be.
Robinson, an FA Vase winner with Thatcham Town, is an exciting and ambitious signing for the Crusaders who rocketed up the English Football Pyramid since 2008 to their current position, but have spent the last two seasons battling the drop with previous boss Ian Herring pulling off a seriously impressive escape at the end of the 2018/19 season.
As you can see in the images below from the Newbury Weekly News photographer Phil Cannings, Robinson was unveiled minus the traditional handshake, with Crusaders chairman Patrick Chambers at Bulpit Lane on Monday.
Robinson had already written a message to his previous clubs supporters and volunteers on social media, but added: “Been an absolutely manic 24 hours in my life but now it’s time to get to work for Hungerford Town. I am absolutely delighted to join such a strong list of fantastic managers like Alan Clark, Bobby Wilkinson and of course Ian Herring in managing this great club. Can’t thank enough Mr Chambers for giving me the opportunity to do so and I am really looking forward to working hard for all you Crusaders! This will be tough but all together we can achieve anything we put our mind to. Please all keep safe and I am really looking forward to seeing you all soon! Regards, Robbo.
