On Saturday, Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division Binfield were in excellent form, beating Easington Sports 4-0 with George Short hitting the back of the net with a terrific strike from range.

But what’s this? Short’s name isn’t on the score sheet.. but, what? That goal was brilliant!

The problem with George Short’s strike then, moments earlier a Sports player careered through Moles striker Josh Helmore as the ball was laid off to Short, the referee electing to blow the whistle as the midfielder’s foot rifled through the ball.

Of course, with a final score it didn’t really matter, but you have to feel for Short who hit the shot perfectly in to the roof of the net.

Of course, it doesn’t mean you can’t watch the goal that never was again and again courtesy of this video captured by @moledriver.

Next up for Binfield, the Moles are on the road to Kent to face Southern Counties East League Premier Division side Deal Town in the FA Vase Fourth Round. A full set of weekend fixtures are here.

Short wasn’t the only one scoring a wonder goal at the weekend, Slough Town’s Scott Davies did this. Oh, and if you were wondering, the goalscorers against Easington were Josh Helmore (2), Josh Howell and Calam Gallimore.
