Wantage Town have, in the last hour confirmed that striker TJ Bohane has left the club.

Many fans of clubs in the Hellenic League and within our WhatsApp group had seen the signing of the former Bracknell Town striker as a signal that the Freds would be title challenger this season – if not the favourites.

The Oxfordshire club have though announced via a short statement on their website that Bohane – who scored 31 goals for Bracknell last season – was to depart to spend more time with his family.

The statement reads: “TJ Bohane has left the club. We thank him for his efforts during pre season. TJ has informed us that he wishes to spend more time with his young family and is therefore unable to provide the commitment needed at Wantage.”

Three days ago, manager Ben Sadler had posted about Bohane’s inclusion in the squad for the 2018/19 season and said: “I have been really pleased with how pre-season has gone so far. Due to our relatively late finish (end of May), we have eased players back in and have not expected too much, too soon.”

Sadler added via twitter following the news that Bohane would leave Alfredian Park: “We wish him the best of luck moving forward. Unfortunately the move hasn’t worked out but thats football.”

Football in Bracknell would like to wish TJ all the best in whatever he chooses to do next.
