Binfield have confirmed via facebook that Reserve and Development team manager Ellis Woods is to step down at the end of the season.

Woods has spent eight seasons at Hill Farm Lane and has worked his way up from coaching the clubs Allied Counties Youth League side.

A statement posted on facebook reads: “At the end of this season, Ellis Woods will be leaving the club. Ellis is the Reserve/Development manager and has been involved with the club for eight seasons.

“Ellis has decided that his future development and ambitions could lie elsewhere other than Binfield FC, and we wish him well in what comes next in his football career”. The full statement is available here.

The Moles are currently fourth in the Suburban League Premier Division and have five games remaining. The last line of Binfield’s statement reads: “Ellis has been a real advocate for the club and we would like to thank him for his dedication and determination in carrying out his roles within Binfield FC.”

‘I love this football club’

A statement from Ellis has since been posted on the Binfield website and reads: “Through a decision based on my own personal development and ambition, I will no longer be managing Binfield FC’s Reserves & Development side as of the 2018/2019 season.

“While I love this football club, I find myself in a position today, outgrown from a youth and development culture. I yearn for the pressures of performance and results that comes within a first team environment.

“What’s next for me? At the moment, my focus is on finishing my 8 season tenure with the club. I have been offered no roles from other clubs/ teams and I’m excited to see what may or may not happen in the summer.”

The statement in full is here.
