Woodley-Football-fundraiser

Past and present Reading FC players out to support 24 hour Woodley charity match

Former Reading FC forward Nathan Tyson and current winger Garath McCleary are expected at a charity football supported by Woodley United on Saturday and Sunday this weekend.

United are supporting the charity football event being held on Saturday 20th August and Sunday 21st August at Woodford Park, Woodley in aid of Michelle Davey (nee Avenell), who is unable to work due to bowel and liver cancer.

Michelle is the daughter of Diane Avenell, a manager of 20 years at Woodley Hammers – a club that now falls under the United umbrella.

The event will take the form of a five a side match with players being asked to play in hourly slots. More details as to playing can be had from Jamie Williams 0776 6714675. Alternatively just turn up on the day. Players will be asked to make a small donation to play.

There will be side stalls consisting of a cake stall, name the teddy, raffle and tombola and a bouncy castle.

Tyson has agreed to play in the match on Sunday afternoon while McCleary will be present to make a presentation the same afternoon.

The match is taking place at Woodford Park in Haddon Drive, Woodley on Saturday, August 20 and Sunday, August 21, from 8am to 8pm on both days.
