Darren Wareham is confident Old Windsor will travel without fear to Aston Clinton in the Quarter Finals of the Charles Twelftrees Trophy on Saturday (1:30 pm).

Old Windsor are no strangers to making a cup upset having already eliminated higher-league Kintbury Rangers and Procision to reach the last eight of the county competition.

And, unbeaten in seven matches in all competitions since Wareham took charge, belief is growing that the club can mount a challenge for silverware this season.

Wareham said: “It’s an absolutely huge game for the club. We’re all really excited for it and been looking forward to it for a number of weeks now, since we found out who we had been drawn against.

“It’s a little bit of a journey for us but we’re all really up for it and we should have a reasonably strong squad to go into the game with.

“We’re going to show them a lot of respect but at the same time we’ve beaten two step seven clubs on our way to this stage of the competition. So we’re going to go with no fear, just give everything we’ve got and hopefully win another game.

“It’s fantastic for us to represent the League in this competition as well. It’s the Quarter Finals so a part of the competition we’re really pleased to have reached for the first time.

“We don’t really know too much about Aston Clinton other than they’re a step seven club. We’ve beaten two teams at that level before so we know we can go and do it again.

“We’ve got plenty of belief in the squad. We believe we can beat anyone on our day so we are going to give it a real good go.”

He added: “I’ve come into the club and managed seven games, and we’ve gone unbeaten in those games. I think it’s been a real turning point for myself and for the club and we’re all really excited for the rest of the season.

“We hope we can go there and do ourselves and the League justice, get the win and move on to the semi finals.”

Aston Clinton have beaten Hanslope, Great Linsford and FC Beaconsfield to reach the Quarter Finals, scoring 15 goals in the process and conceding eight.

The team is currently on a six-match winning streak in all competitions and in eighth position in Division Two of the Spartan South Midlands Football League.
