Binfield joint-managers Jamie McClurg and Carl Withers have already started planning for next season, but are waiting to see if two members of their FA Vase final team will remain at the club.
Liam Ferdinand, who scored both goals in their 3-2 defeat by Warrington Rylands at Wembley, and Kensley Maloney were only brought in for the competition, as their parent club, Harrow Borough were inactive due to Southern League Premier Division South terminating their season early.
The dual-registered pair have now to decide where they intend to play in the future.
McClurg said: “We have known them for a long time and we knew they would fit in perfectly for the Vase as they are two quality lads on and off the pitch. They were also happy to get in some football as their club were no longer playing due to the lockdown.
“But I am sure we will be talking to them about next season, although I would think other clubs will also want to speak to them as well.”
McClurg and Withers will be adding to their squad as they prepare to step up to the Isthmian League for the first time.
“We are no different from any other; all managers will be looking to see if we can strengthen their team,” added McClurg.
“Managers are talking to each other all the time and there will be transfers for sure before next season.
“If we do bring players in, we will make sure they are the right people who will fit into our squad, that will be the main thing for us. I would think there are a lot of players looking our way, but you have to reach out to those who you think will be the right fit.
“Everything at the club is done properly, we all trust each other and there are no grey areas here.”
Since taking over the managerial reins, McClurg and Withers have changed things quite considerably at the village club, with Jamie commenting: “Our Vase run brought us a lot of publicity and more people than ever now know where we are at, and that is going to help us in so many ways, in terms of signing players, attracting more fans and bringing in more sponsors. Thanks to the Vase, the whole club is going to benefit on and off the field.
“We haven’t got the same financial backing as several clubs have but what we do have is a bunch of players who have all played at that level (Step 4) before and against teams in the FA Cup and in friendlies, so they will know what to expect.”
