Ryan Peters stepped in for Alan Devonshire again on Tuesday as Maidenhead United were held to a 0-0 draw at Aldershot Town, and he was proud of the Magpies’ unbeaten run but admitted it wasn’t their best performance.

Devonshire is currently sidelined after undergoing hip surgery and also missed Saturday’s win at Chesterfield.

Speaking to the Magpies’ media team, Peters said: “From our point, it wasn’t great. If you have a look at our performances over the last six games, we’ve definitely played a lot better.

“However, it shows our resilience to keep a clean sheet against a team where their goals per minute are up there with us.

“We want to keep this run going for as long as possible. We have another game to go then we will reassess and keep going, building nice and slowly.

Devonshire’s assistant then went on to confirm that Sparkes will be out for a lengthy period after being replaced during the first half.

“This is the second game we’ve had to make a change because of an injury. It looks like Dan Sparkes will be out for a long time.

“Unfortunately, games are coming thick and fast so we’re getting quite a lot of muscular injuries.”

The Magpies face Bromley on Saturday as they aim to stretch their unbeaten run to seven. Details on how to stream the game will be available here.

Josh Tindall’s match report is available here.
