Bracknell Town manager Sam Lock has called his new striker a ‘proper goalscorer’ after securing the signature of Hayes & Yeading United forward Lee Barney.

Barney joins Larges Lane with some big shoes to fill in the shape of the departed strike force of Liam Ferdinand and Adam Cornell but was part of the United side that won the Bostik League South Central Division One title last season.

As well as United, the Robins new front man has played for Beaconsfield Town as well as Walton & Hersham and started out with Maidenhead United’s youth team.

Speaking to Football in Berkshire, Lock said: “Lee is a proper goal scorer. He has scored close to 100 goals over the past three seasons.

“He also has back to back promotions on his CV. I’m absolutely thrilled he’s decided to come to Bracknell.”
