One player in particular caught the eye as Bracknell Town were beaten 2-0 by Reading’s under 23s in the Berks & Bucks County FA Senior Cup tie at Larges Lane.

Royals goalkeeper Myles Roberts were the star of the second half show, keeping the Robins at bay with a series of excellent saves to deny Joe Gater a brace of goals if not a hat trick as well as Seb Bowerman and Joe Grant.

And all that despite a wobble in the first half from a long range strike by Harrison Bayley.

At just 16-years-old Roberts put in an assured second half display worthy of more experienced goalkeepers and had both Bracknell and Reading supporters among the 1,000 plus crowd singing his praises.

Posting on twitter, Richard Claypole said: “Myles Roberts, as a Bracknell Town supporter I don’t mind saying great performance this evening, kept Reading in the game. Good luck for the future.”

Bill Fernley said: “Should’ve seen some of Myles Robert’s second-half saves from last night’s U23/18 win at Larges Lane, Bracknell Town FC in the BBFA Senior Cup. Especially after overcoming a shaky/nervy first-half performance.”

Nath St Paul added: “Fantastic display last night young man. Hope to see you playing in our first team in a couple of years. Keep working hard!”

Roberts signed for the Royals Academy in the summer on a two-year scholarship along with Thierry Nevers who also featured against the Robins on Tuesday night and is part of the clubs under 18 setup that plays against other Category 1 academies in the U18 Premier League.
