Can Maidenhead United avoid relegation? Berkshire’s bearings at the business end of the season

The Berkshire football scene is set to give Soccer Saturday a run for its money as Rob Davies considers all the permutations of the closing stages of the 2024/25 season.

The Headlines

  • The Magpies could be relegated.
  • The Robins could be relegated.
The Yellas could confirm a playoff place and
  • The Boars could get to the Combined Counties Division One playoff final.

The Details

Maidenhead United

For Maidenhead United to avoid relegation they need to win at bottom placed Ebbsfleet United and hope Wealdstone don’t win at Southend. Ideally the Magpies need both Wealdstone and Dagenham & Redbridge to lose. Dagenham are at home to Altrincham.

Bracknell Town

If Bracknell Town win away at Sholing they will avoid relegation.

Bracknell will be relegated on the final day if they lose at Sholing and four of the following five results also happen:

Poole Town win or draw at home against Chertsey Town
Basingstoke Town win or draw at home against Merthyr Town
Winchester City win at home against Taunton Town
Swindon Supermarine win away at Walton & Hersham
Tiverton Town win at home against Marlow

Bracknell can go down with a draw, but it would mean all four of the following results would have to happen:

Poole Town win at home against Chertsey Town
Basingstoke Town win at home against Merthyr Town
Winchester City win at home against Taunton Town
Swindon Supermarine win away at Walton & Hersham by two goals or more

Complicated.

Ascot United

In a huge game in the Isthmian South Central, 3rd place Ascot United will secure a home playoff semi final if they win away at 5th place Kingstonian.

If Ascot draw they will confirm a playoff spot. It will be a home playoff if both Haworth Villa and Hayes & Yeading fail to win. If one or both of those sides win they will leapfrog Ascot and the Yellamen will have an away semi final.

If Ascot lose their opponents Kingstonian will leapfrog them. They can still earn an playoff semi final away from home but they would need at least one of Haworth Villa and Hayes & Yeading to lose.

Hanowrth Villa are at home to Horndean (16th)
Hayes & Yeading are away at South Park (15th)

Nervy.

Eversley & California are away at Penn & Tylers Green in the Combined Counties Division One playoff semi final. The Boars finished 6 points and one place behind their opponents in the league. The winner will play the winner of Westside vs Belstone in the final.
