Darcey Young and Olivia Mansell are up for a Berkshire Football Award in the category of Physio of the Season.

The nomination we received for the award said: “In their first season working in men’s football, Darcey Young and Olivia Mansell have set an exceptional standard as physios for Eversley & California Men’s First Team. They have stepped into a demanding environment and consistently demonstrated professionalism, expertise, and a genuine commitment to player welfare.

“During a challenging season in which the first team injury list reached double figures, Darcey and Olivia have gone above and beyond. They have delivered tailored treatment programmes, detailed recovery plans, and continuous monitoring for injured players, ensuring every individual received the highest standard of care. Their proactive communication with the coaching staff, alongside clear and detailed reporting, has been vital in managing player fitness and availability.

“Their impact is perhaps best reflected in the words of those they support. Club captain Ross Baker highlighted their importance, explaining that they have been crucial in helping players navigate the season, quickly identifying issues and ensuring the right treatment and support is in place throughout recovery. Joint Manager Darryl Jelly praised their contribution, describing them as reliable and trustworthy, and crediting them with providing outstanding care during a season heavily affected by injuries, consistently helping players return to fitness and supporting their recovery every step of the way.

“Their dedication is evident in everything they do. They arrive early, stay late, and make themselves available at all times, often in unsociable hours. Alongside their responsibilities with the men’s first team, they continue to play for and support the Eversley & California Ladies team, underlining their commitment to the club as a whole.

“Off the pitch, Darcey and Olivia play a key role in the wider club environment. They are heavily involved in charity initiatives and consistently volunteer their time, contributing positively to the culture and community of the club.

“Their impact this season has been significant. Their professionalism, care, and work ethic make them truly deserving of Physio of the Season.”
