Holyport’s development dreams a step closer to reality

The new tea bar at Holyport FC

Combined Counties League Premier Division North side Holyport’s development dreams are a step closer to reality after funding was secured.

The Port have long harboured dreams of a more suitable refreshment facility to replace their long-standing ‘tea hut’ at Summerleaze, but time frames between planning and funding has seen the clubs development plans roll on and on.

Holyport have planning permission for their new facility which will include new catering facilities and a ticket office, allowing the club to increase and improve their match day offering.

Those plans were approved by Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead Council in early 2022, and the club has confirmed it’s own part of the funding is almost complete.

Speaking to Football in Berkshire, club secretary Richard Tyrell said: “Our part of the funding is all in place and we’ve selected a contractor, we’re just waiting on the relevant Football Foundation funding and we can get going.

“It’s a really exciting time for the football club, there are developments coming around the corner which will put us front and centre of a new community, we have more junior teams and it’s growing all the time.”
