Minutes silence for Keith Baker
Last week we heard the awful news that Slough Town manager Neil Baker’s dad Keith had passed away.
Keith, a well-loved former Farnborough Town and Aldershot player passed away following a battle with cancer and minutes’ silences were held at his former clubs as well as prior to the Slough Town vs Hungerford Town National League South derby at the weekend.

Bracknell Town’s winning run ends
It had to end at some point, and narrative-wise it was probably bound to be Chertsey Town – now managed by former Sandhurst Town boss Ian Selley – that did it given the abandoned fixture between the sides last time out.
A strange result though, Bracknell conceded and didn’t score. Neither of those things has happened very often at all this season and it took an 84th-minute winner to end the Robins 17 match winning run.
Despite the 1-0 defeat, only Bracknell’s second of the Isthmian League season, it remains a case surely of when, not if, the Robins will be crowned champions and promoted to the highest level the club has ever competed at.
Reading FC Women young players full of promise
Deanne Rose and Emma Harries have taken a lot of the limelight this season for Reading FC Women, a strong statement given manager Kelly Chambers regular manager of the month nominations and Natasha Dowie’s Player and Goal of the Month efforts, but the last two games has seen another name added to the list of headline-makers at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
Tia Primmer has been a late sub in the Royals last two matches, the Women’s FA Cup tie with Brighton & Hove Albion and the FA WSL fixture with Everton and twice she’s popped up with a late winner.
On Saturday, the Royals left it late at Everton but Dowie struck first in the final quarter of an hour and Primmer won it with two minutes of normal time remaining.
We haven’t even mentioned the return from injury of Grace Moloney and her penalty save either have we? Being a Reading fan at the moment certainly isn’t all bad.
Charlee Adams with a screamer to put Maidenhead United in front
It is just as well we’re bringing back the Goal of the Month competition because Charlee Adams opener for Maidenhead United at home to Eastleigh on Saturday is going to be right up there.
The clubs Twitter account described the strike as ‘Di Canio-esque’ and it’s hard to disagree.
The game finished 2-2, Adams scored after 40 minutes and Eastleigh then went ahead with that old cliche of returning striker – Danny Whitehall – levelling on 72 minutes and Ryan Hill scoring on 79.
Thankfully for the Magpies Reece Smith levelled on 87 as Maidenhead’s good run of form continues to ease the club’s relegation fears.
Reading City vs Holyport generates zero bookings
Following on from a ‘Red Saturday’ that saw at least five red cards issued in the Reading City v Wembley fixture and three in the Holyport v St Panteleimon game a week ago, City v Port on Saturday that saw the home side win 2-1 went, reportedly, without a single yellow being issued.
What this means, no idea, but congratulations to both clubs and in particular Cityzens boss Simon Johnson on his 100th match in charge.
Caversham United Women make a cup final in the first season
The Goats head to the Berks & Bucks County FA Cup Final following a 2-0 win over Slough Tow Ladies at Mapledurham with goals from Freya Jenkins and Emma Hopkins.
Caversham will play Penn & Tylers Green in the Final at Beaconsfield Town on Sunday 13th March.
