Windlesham and Maidenhead Town register opening night wins

The Thames Valley Premier League kicked off on Wednesday evening with five fixtures. Two home victories and three wins away from home.

Berks County, Finchampstead, Richings Park and Woodley United Royals had no scheduled matches for opening day and will have to wait to make their season debuts.

Burghfield 1 Newbury 2

Burghfield took the lead in the 14th minute through Chris Smalley-Ward, Newbury struck back just before half-time then scored a 90th minute winner to take all three points. Jesse Bowers and Ryan Adams scored the goals for Newbury.

Mortimer 1 Maidenhead Town 3

The Villagers were leading 1-0 at half-time but goals from Jake Wheeler, Mitchell Burley and Lewis Critcher earned the win for Town.

Westwood Wanderers 2 Reading City U23 1

A home win for Wanderers against Reading City U23s to start the season.

Woodcote 4 Cookham Dean 3

Probably the most dramatic game of the evening took place at Woodcote. The home side came from 2-0 down to win the tie 4-3. Carl Self with a season opening hat-trick and Jos Miller with the goals for Woodcote.

Wraysbury Village 0 Windlesham United 4

Lewis Coyle, Craig Gibson and a Robert Ellis brace saw Thames Valley Premier new boys Windlesham United take all three points in their first match in the division.
