Newbury continued an amazing run with a 4–1 win away to Westwood United Reserves in the Thames Valley Premier League Division One.

That’s 10 wins on the trot in the league and the club have also progressed to the semi-final of the Berks and Bucks Senior Trophy where they will play Marlow United.

A remarkable campaign considering the club were left without a home so close to the season kicking off.

A sloppy start from Thatcham Town in the Southern League proved costly as they were beaten by Highworth Town. The Kingfishers found themselves 0-2 down within the first 15mins at Waterside Park but got back into the game with a superb finish from George Jeacock.

Early in the second half Highworth regained the two goal advantage before Jack Alexander scored a goal of the season contender with a thunderous strike from 25 yards.

Resolute defending from the away side ensured the three points despite Thatcham Town pushing them all the way.

Hungerford Town suffered defeat at home to Hemel Hempstead Town in the National League South.

The Crusaders had a first half to forget going into the break 3-0 down. An improved second half display but the goal deficit wasn’t reduced, a result meaning Hungerford slide into the drop zone.

Still plenty of games to play – a few of those against relegation rivals.
