Binfield are through to the third round of the Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup after a 2-0 victory over Ascot United on Monday night at Hill Farm Lane.
Josh Howell put the Moles in front after 11 minutes and Ian Davies made the game safe with six minutes remaining in the second half.
The Yellamen were reduced to 10-men in the second half when Jonathan Denton was sent off and had goalkeeper Lee Allen to thank for keeping the score – particularly in the first half – down with a series of saves and punches.
Our man on the scene Neil Graham reported: “Ascot picked up the pace second half coming close three times. Binfield’s Jack Broome picked up a yellow card in the second half which could easily have been a red with him being the last man and shortly after Denton was shown a straight red.”
We expect Binfield to face an away tie to either Abingdon United or Brimscombe & Thrupp in the Third Round while Bracknell Town await a decision on their abandoned tie at Highmoor Ibis.
