Ascot United confirmed in a statement on Wednesday morning that managers Jeff Lamb and Paul McGrotty has decided to step down – with speculation growing as to who will take over at the Racecourse ground.
In the meantime, we’ve had a quick look in the archives and picked out some special moments from their historic time in charge of the Yellamen.
The 5 year spell at the Racecourse led to several spectacular Vase runs, cup wins and national recognition in the FA Cup.
It has unarguably been the most successful period in the history of senior football in a town where so often the camera’s focus is on the famous old racecourse, rather than the club within it’s ground.
So here’s to Jeff and Paul..
When the Sky camera’s came to the Racecourse Ground
The palace of racing versus the home of football..

When they were this excited about an FA Vase third round win in 2012

They eventually reached the quarter finals, losing a replay against Shildon 4-1.
When they did it all again two seasons later
Typical Gracie.. this time they were beaten 3-2 at a packed St Austell in the quarters.
There was this seasons BEST EVER FA Cup run

The heavy replay defeat at Tonbridge Angels in the First Qualifying Round should never detract from the fact they were a penalty kick from winning the original tie.
And not forgetting that epic late FA Vase winner at Hollands & Blair

And then of course there’s the 2015/16 Floodlit Cup Final..
