Reading Women have announced that forward Lisa-Marie Utland has left the club. She has re-joined Norwegian club Rosenborg.
Utland scored seven goals in eight starts for Reading during the 2019/2020 season. Remarkably, five of those seven goals came in a single match against Crystal Palace in the Royals 6-0 Continental Cup win at the Madejski Stadium.
The Norwegian forward has played in two World Cup tournaments and scored against Nigeria during 2019’s edition. She won’t have to wait too long to meet up with some of her ex-teammates as Norway’s women side are due to play Wales later this year as part of qualification for Euro 2021.
If we’ve counted correctly we believe this leaves Reading with twelve senior first-team players: Grace Moloney, Kristine Leine, Molly Bartrip, Rachel Rowe, Angharad James, Tash Harding, Amalie Eikeland, Fara Williams, Lauren Bruton, Brooke Chaplen and youngsters Lily Woodham and Kiera Skeels. It will be fascinating to see who Kelly Chambers attempts to bring in to replace Utland and the others who have left during this close season.
