The vastly experienced Natasha Dowie has signed for Reading Women. Kelly Chambers will hope that the signing of Dowie can solve the goal-scoring issue that Reading Women have had in recent seasons.
Reading’s top scorer last season was Rachel Rowe with five goals, and although the goals from Rowe are clearly helpful, Chambers would dearly love to have a prolific goalscorer on the club’s books.
Thirty-three year old Dowie has played fourteen times for England and scored five goals. Her career has taken her to the United States, Sweden. Italy and Australia playing for the likes of Boston Breakers, Melbourne Victory and Milan.
Reading will hope she can re-create her 47 goals in 68 Liverpool appearances she achieved when she played for the Merseyside club between 2012 and 2015.
Danielle Carter’s departure means that Tash Dowie has an opportunity to stake her claim as Reading’s first-choice striker and will hope after a five year period away from English football she can re-capture some of the form that saw her become one of the FA WSL’s top goalscorers.
