Former Reading FC midfielder joins Slough Town

Vanarama National League South side Slough Town have confirmed the signing of former Reading midfielder Aaron Kuhl.

In a post on the Rebels website, the club revealed 23-year-old Kuhl had signed after a spell getting back to full fitness with BetVictor Southern League South Division side Basingstoke Town.

The statement on sloughtownfc.net said: “Unfortunately some terrible luck with injuries forced him out of the professional game but after working hard to get back to fitness he has recently made a return with Basingstoke Town. Their manager Dan Brownlie has been fantastic in allowing him to train with us in recent weeks and after playing 90 minutes in the friendly [with Aldershot Town] on Tuesday he has agreed to sign for the Rebels.”

Kuhl, who made a brief cameo for Bracknell Town in 2017, originally joined Reading’s academy in 2008 made his first team debut in the EFL Championship in August 2014 against Huddersfield Town.

He went on to have loan spells at Dundee United and Boreham Wood and made appearances for the England under 19 and under 20 sides.

Following his departure from Reading in 2017, Kuhl ruptured his medial collateral ligament playing in a friendly for Aldershot Town against Wycombe Wanderers resulting in a long injury lay-off.

The Rebels have confirmed Kuhl is in the squad for Saturday’s National League trip to Chippenham Town. The full weekend fixture list is here.
