Reading City have pulled off the impressive signing of striker Yashwa Romeo as preparations continue for the 2019/20 Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division season.
City, who finished one place above the relegation zone last season have been making strides off the pitch with award nominations for the pitch at Scours Lane – including a Bracknell Football Award and will undoubtedly be looking to avoid such a nail biting finish next season.
Romeo brings with him a wealth of experience playing for higher division sides including Maidenhead United and Slough Town as well as Marlow and most recently as part of the coaching staff at Thames Valley Premier League champions Marlow United.
Speaking to Football in Berkshire, Romeo said in an extensive interview you can read here that he had got back that desire and hunger to score goals.
City manager Simon Johnson said of his first summer signing: “Yash is a great signing for us. He has a wealth of experience in non league football and has always scored goals wherever he’s been. It’s exciting for us because he is a great character to have around the club and he will also bring a good level of professionalism to the squad. He can use his experience to help our younger players in the squad to progress further as well. We are very excited to have him.”
He added about how he came to secure the forward’s signature: “Yash approached me and said he still has a season left in him. He said he wanted to get fit and score some goals one last time.”
Reading have a number of pre season friendlies already secured. You can see the full fixture list for all Berkshire clubs here.
