Bracknell Town goalkeeper Chris Grace has made a non league deadline day move to Evo Stik Southern Premier Division South side Hendon.

The Robins goalkeeper helped Bracknell to promotion from the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division to the Bostik League last season but has had to vie with former Slough Town stopper Mark Scott for the number one jersey at Larges Lane this season.

Grace – who moves up a level with the switch, joins a Hendon side battling against the drop from the division and goes straight in to the squad for the trip to Poole Town on Saturday.

Bracknell Town manager Geoff Warner had been enjoying having two goalkeepers available to him for Bracknell’s run in but allowed Grace to move on dual registration after he was contacted by the greens management.

He said: “It’s a dual registration with Hendon, he’s obviously also registerd with Binfield. Hendon have watched some clips and were really keen on him.

“For Chris, the Evo Stik Premier is a step up not a step down and this highlights what I’ve said about us having two of the best ‘keepers in the Bostik.”

On the length of Grace’s move, Warner said currently it was just for the game at Poole, but it could be extended if it is suitable for everyone.

Grace originally came through the youth ranks at Bracknell but made his career in senior football first at Reading Town and then Ascot United where he enjoyed great success.

Bracknell made one signing on deadline day as former Republic of Ireland under 19 international Anton Rodgers joined the club.
