Woodley United centre back and captain Idris Kamara has signed for Bostik League Division 1 South Central side Marlow.
The Blues confirmed the signature of Kamara – named the Hellenic League’s player of the season this summer, on Wednesday morning ahea.
A statement posted on Marlow’s website from manager Mark Bartley reads: “I’m delighted to announce the signing of Idris Kamara for the 2018/19 season.
“Idris is a quick, strong intelligent defender, and was one of my main targets during the summer. His athleticism and leadership qualities a re just two of the reasons that I believe this to be a great addition to our numbers.”
Kamara played 44 times for Woodley in the Hellenic League last season and was a key part of their battle against relegation, earning plaudits from opposing teams to lift the leagues player of the season trophy.
Speaking exclusively to Football in Bracknell in June, Kamara said of his award: “Being honest I wasn’t aware I was in the running. Roger text me in the evening saying that I was up for the award, which I would have been more than happy with given our position and how well Thatcham and Bracknell have done this year. But to win it was a complete surprise. I’m really pleased.”
