Hellenic League new boys Virginia Water make first signings

Ambitious Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division new boys Virginia Water have made their first signings of the summer.

Virginia Water, who wrestled the Hellenic League Division 1 East title from twice winner Penn & Tylers Green have added Liam Whyte and Harvey Griffiths to their squad as they plan a first assault on step 4 since 1993.

Whyte is a former Flackwell Heath and Binfield midfielder while Griffiths played predominantly for Bracknell Town’s development team last season where he made 15 appearances.

In addition the Waters have added Scott Jackson from Thames Valley Premier League side Cookham Dean where he top scored last season with 11 goals while Dom Clarke has joined from Woodford Town.

Champions

Virginia Water won the Hellenic League Division 1 East at the first attempt last season after joining the league from the Surrey Elite League.

They won 18 of their 24 games and scored 65 goals in the process and move up to the Premier Division due to their first place finish and ground share with Windsor at Stag Meadow.

The majority of the clubs league goals last season came from Adam McNamara (15) and Josh Guichard (11).
