And then there were two: Reading City and Windsor & Eton ‘in the hat’ for FA Vase Fourth Round draw

Cityzens advance to last 32 of FA Vase

The 2025/26 FA Vase Fourth Round draw will have two Berkshire side ‘in the hat’ but for very different reasons following the Third Round action on Saturday.

Windsor & Eton’s difficult looking trip to Southern Counties East Football League Tunbridge Wells was postponed on Saturday, meaning the Royalist will be in the draw which takes place on Monday. Their fixture is very likely to be rearranged for next Saturday, taking precedence over the clubs home tie with Broadfields United in the Combined Counties League Premier Division North.

There were no such pitch worries for Reading City prior to their Vase tie with Snodland Town. The Cityzens tweeted in advance the match was ‘100% on’, showing the ground work at the Rivermoor is paying off.

Simon Johnson’s side were a goal down after 21 minutes to their Kent based opponents but a strong second half showing with goals from Ellis Cowd and a brace which included a penalty from James Clark put City into the Fourth Round.

Elsewhere, Burnham went out after a 2-1 home defeat to Punjab United. The visitors scored twice in the first half through Roman Campbell but a late Shyon Dennis strike proved nothing more than a consolation for the Blues.

Berks County are also out despite a heroic effort at Haywards Heath Town. One of the lowest ranked sides left in the competition, the Swords lead on 50 minutes against the Southern Combination Football League Premier Division leaders through George Gould but were pegged back on 87 minutes, and the home side eventually won a penalty shootout 4-3.
