Ascot United Women have secured a place in the Berks & Bucks County FA Senior Women’s Cup semi-finals for the first time ever.
The Yellas were on the road to Milton Keynes side New Bradwell St Peter in Tuesday night quarter-final action.
They looked to be one up with 20 minutes on the clock after Mia Delaney fired home but the goal was chalked off for a handball. But just seven minutes later Poppy Dearlove found Alice Balaam who made no mistake in putting Ascot ahead. New Bradwell fought back at the 38th minute and the sides were level at the break.
There were three changes at half-time for the Yellas including super sub Kate Fox, and she came up trumps in the 65th minute, restoring a two-goal lead and creating club history, sending the team to the semi-finals for the first time.
The Yellas will no doubt be elated to reach the semi-finals having narrowly missed out on a place in the 2024/25 season when sixth-tier Newport Pagnell Town snatched a last gasp winner on the 87th minute to deny a shootout opportunity.
Ascot will face either Maidenhead United, Abingdon United or MK Dons in the next round.
Berks & Bucks County FA Senior Women’s Cup Quarter Final results:
- MK Dons 14-1 Woodley United
- New Bradwell St Peter 1-2 Ascot United
- Penn & Tyler’s Green 0-2 Maidenhead United
- Wycombe Wanderers 0-0 Abingdon United (6-7 on penalties)
