FA Trophy: Bracknell Town and Hungerford Town play out 9-goal thriller

You’ve got to feel for the Twitter admins on a game like that. No sooner have you settled in your preferred spot around the pitch than Joe Grant is brought down in the box.

Five minutes in to this nine goal FA Trophy tie between two sides – Bracknell Town and Hungerford Town – eager to put FA Cup exits behind them, it was 1-0 to the Robins when Alfie Pavey fired home the resulting penalty.

It was 1-1 on 25 minutes through the irrepressible Kyle Tooze and it was 2-1 to the visitors through Ramarni Medford-Smith on 32 minutes.

A minute or so earlier Bracknell had suffered the blow of losing goalscorer Pavey to injury, but they were back in the game on 38 minutes through Grant, to take the game in level at half-time.

With the tie in the balance, Hungerford struck first on the hour to lead 3-2, again through Medford-Smith.

To Joe Grant then. Throughout it all, managerial changes, spells away, horrible injuries, he is Bracknell’s talisman and pulled the game level at 3-3 after Francis Amartey reached the byline and squared to the 250+ appearance man on 69 minutes.

Amartey himself was on the scoresheet minutes later as the game swung to Bracknell and the Robins made it goals five and six through Teddy Tarbotton and debutant Giovanni McGregor.

Deflation undoubtedly for Hungerford boss Danny Robinson and his team, a sign of things to come for Bracknell now under Matthew Saunders?

The FA has confirmed the FA Trophy First Round Proper draw will be released on Monday 6th October at 1pm.
