Reading City picked up a point at home on Saturday in the Combined Counties League Premier Division North with a 0-0 draw against Virginia Water.

The Cityzens point was just their second in the last five league games and a first clean sheet since a Cherry Red Records Premier Challenge Cup First Round fixture against the same opposition in September.

Reading are five points clear of the bottom two and have games in hand so a point and a clean-sheet against Virginia Water who are chasing a play-off spot has to go down in the column marked ‘valuable’.

Holyport’s own play-off ambitions remain in tact after a 1-0 win at struggling Wembley – Jake Beck-Nardoni on target while Berks County’s hopes of remaining in the division suffered a blow after a 1-0 defeat at bottom side Edgware & Kingsbury.

Goals from Caelan Isaac and Aiden Higgs gave Wallingford & Crowmarsh some breathing room in the division in a 2-1 win over Broadfields United but Wokingham Town suffered a 3-1 defeat at Risborough Rangers – Brandon Curtis on target for the Sumas.

In the Premier Division South, Sandhurst Town and Tadley Calleva both suffered defeats with the Fizzers losing 1-0 at relegation threatened Balham, a game they might have hoped to take three points from to ease their own drop fears.

Tadley may have to park their own play-off hopes after a 2-0 defeat at Sheerwater. The Romans gave it all against Aldershot Town in midweek and have games in hand but the defeat means they are 11 points off fifth placed Fleet Town.

In the Combined Counties League Division One, Windsor & Eton remain favourites for the title thanks to a 4-0 home win against FC Deportivo Galicia but Yateley United dropped three points in their play-off chase, losing 4-3 at home to Oxhey Jets.

Langley meanwhile were beaten 2-1 at home by Chalfont St Peter.
