Combined Counties League Premier Division North Wokingham & Emmbrook have beaten the drop after a 3-2 win at play-off chasing North Greenford United.

The Sumas have been involved in an end-of-season slog that so far has seen them play 10 times in April including three times in the last five days.

Call it ‘new manager bounce’ if you like, boss Darren Purbrick’s side haven’t had it all their own way since the former Chalvey Sports gaffer took over, but three wins in the last four means Wokingham will live to fight another day at Step 5.

Purbrick’s side could yet have a say on the play-off race with Burnham next up at Lowther Road. The Blues are in a three-way tussle with Reading City and Holyport for the two remaining spots with two games to play.
