Isthmian League Binfield suffered a heavy defeat on Sunday in their Isuzu FA Trophy First Qualifying Round tie as Ashford United inflicted a 7-1 defeat.
The Moles season has started slowly with a brand new squad still bedding in, but Sunday’s result was only exacerbated by Ashford’s two openers being marked down as own goals.
United were 3-0 up before Ben Stallard pulled one back before half time only for Ashford to hit four more in the second half.
Manager Garry Haylock was robust in his post match interview about the performance and suggested during a two week break from competitive action there would be seven or eight players coming in.
Ascot United went through however, beating Horndean 3-2 in Hampshire with Brendan Matthew scoring twice and Sam Bello-Balogun grabbing the other.
That win makes it 14 straight wins in all FA competitions since an FA Cup Preliminary Round defeat to Holyport in 2022.
Sadly for West Berkshire football fans, Thatcham Town are also out following a 3-1 penalty shootout defeat to Bristol Manor Farm.
Jordan Alves scored twice for the Kingfishers in normal time giving them a 2-0 lead but the visitors fought back to send the game to penalties.
