It was a tough weekend for Berkshire’s sides in the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier Division North with only Wokingham & Emmbrook and Ascot United coming away with any points.

The Sumas held a Spelthorne Sports side without a win in five games to a 0-0 draw in Surrey as Wokingham’s run without a goal extended to three games since the 3-2 win at Reading City while Ascot earned a very creditable point in a 2-2 home draw with second-placed Southall thanks to a double from Harry Laflin.

The game itself had been delayed by 70 minutes after an injury in an earlier junior fixture at the Racecourse Ground, the Yellamen have since reported the player from Twyford Comets was comfortable at home.

Ascot twice equalised in the game, Laflin levelling from the penalty spot early in the second half after Southall’s first-half opener, and the striker scored again in injury time to level it up, this time a trademark headed goal from a Chris Ellis throw.

Elsewhere, three points were hard to come by as Windsor narrowly lost to leaders Hanworth Villa despite Charlie Losasso giving the Royalists the lead after 35 minutes from the penalty spot.

Elliott Simpson levelled for Hanworth before a double from Sam Merson made it 3-1 and Jake Hammond got a late consolation for Mark Cooper’s side.

Holyport’s winning run came to an end with a 1-0 home defeat to Abbey Rangers while Reading City were beaten 3-2 by bottom side CB Hounslow United after going 2-0 up through Joe Waight and Luis Le Paih.

Finally, both Virginia Water and Tadley Calleva suffered defeats, VW beaten 2-0 at Stag Meadow by St Panteleimon and Tadley 4-2 at home to North Greenford United.
