Bracknell Town’s long-serving talisman Seb Bowerman struck twice on Saturday as the Robins went top of the Pitching In Isthmian League South Central Division One.
Bowerman struck first after just three minutes at home to Bedfont, and scored his second from the penalty spot after Dimitrios Kyriatzis brought down Dave Tarpey in the box.
The Robins had Myles Bowman in goal following Mark Scott’s injury in the FA Cup defeat to Burgess Hill Town last weekend and his clean sheet was denied when Charlie Postance pulled one back for the visitors on 78 minutes.
The win put Bracknell top of the league by virtue of goals scored from Uxbridge with a tantalising derby at Thatcham Town next up on Tuesday night.
Speaking of Thatcham, the Kingfishers were denied all three points at Chertsey Town in a meeting of two former FA Vase winners by a late Magnus Abisogun equaliser.
Alex Miller had given Jamie Leacock’s side a 1-0 lead on 24 minutes but that was gobbled up by Ashley Lodge on 28, and it took until the 70th minute for the next goal when Balai Dembele made it 2-1 to the Thatcham only for Abisogun to grab the equaliser again for Chertsey on 89 minutes.
Binfield were also denied three points at Chipstead, Callum Bunting equalising Andy Kabuikusomo’s 12th minute opened with Ollie Harris then putting the Moles in front 10 minutes after half-time.
That lead lasted 15 minutes with Tom Collins equalising to ensure it was spoils shared in Surrey, although a positive point for Binfield was the return of Asa Povey who was a 78th minute substitute for Josh Helmore.
