Chalfont St. Peter Under 23s have won the first-ever East Berkshire League Development Division title after an unbeaten first season in the league.
The young Saints dominated the division, created to help with the transition from youth to adult football, with six wins and two draws, scoring 31 goals and conceding just four.
Chalfont wrapped up the title after an impressive 5-0 home win against Pinewood Panthers U23s on Saturday, putting them seven points clear of second-placed Calcot Royals, who have just two matches remaining.
The club’s official Twitter account posted: “They did it! Congratulations to @eliotcfrilli and his team! Undefeated league champions. Keep an eye out for news on our U23s, there’s some exciting plans on the way to increase their development!”
Finlay Johnson is the first team manager at the club. He tweeted: “Very proud of @eliotcfrilli, his staff and his players. Excellent achievement first season. I’m convinced we’ll enjoy more success in the future and develop more players through the pathway.”
Calcot need just one point from their remaining two fixtures to secure the runners-up spot following a 3-2. Win at Sandhurst Town U23s on Saturday.
Premier Division
Britwell leapfrogged SB Phoenix to top spot in the Premier Division after winning an eight-goal thriller 5-3 in the top-of-the-table clash at the Chicken Ranch. The hosts made hard work of securing the points but were in their groove in spurts. Dan Molloy bagged a brace, with a goal and a man-of-the-match performance from Aydn Coomber.
Old Windsor are chasing down the leading duo following a 3-1 win at home to Singh Sabha thanks to a Dale Robins-Bailey brace and a strike from star man Brad Birchmore. Nine-man Sabha described the defeat as a “huge loss” and have now slipped to fourth position in the table.
Division One
Iver Heath extended their lead at the top of Division One to five points after a 4-1 win at second-placed Stoke Poges Saints, their first league defeat of the season.
Hype Train moved up to third place following a resounding 4-0 victory at bottom side Hambelden, who are still looking for a first win this season. Martin King was among the goals scorers as the Reading-based side secured their biggest success of the campaign so far.
Division Two
Division Two leaders AFC Cressex are now six points clear of the chasing pack after a pair of wins this week. The table-toppers beat Stoke Poges Saints Reserves 3-0 at home last Wednesday before a narrow 1-0 victory at Eton Wick last weekend. The unbeaten Pundit FC moved into second position after a 4-2 success at FC Baylis United, whilst AFC Winkfield Reserves drew 2-2 at Chalvey Sports A
