Wokingham & Emmbrook got their Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East campaign off to a flyer on Friday night with a 5-0 win at home to AFC Aldermaston.

The Sumas scored early and often in the first half as a Jake White hat trick put the game out of reach for the Atom Men.

White scored twice in the opening 15 minutes and saw a free-kick deflected in on the stroke of half time while Liam Eagle and Ellis Day added goals three and four.

The Sumas weren’t the only side in action on Friday night as Langley welcomed Abingdon United to their new home of Arbour Park.

United led 2-0 at the break but Paulo Cicero scored from the penalty spot early in the second for what turned out to be a consolation in a 2-1 win for Abingdon. Read Billy Case’s report from Arbour Park here.

Meanwhile, in the Tilehurst Charity Cup Final at The Rivermoor, Thames Valley Premier League Burghfield beat Emmer Green 3-1 courtesy of goals from James Sayer, Kieran Farmer and Harvey Beales.
