Laschok and awe as Max hits Woodley United hat trick

Max Laschok’s hat trick gave Woodley United only a second Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East game of the season as they beat Langley 4-2 at Scours Lane.

The Kestrels enjoyed a superior first half with two goals from Laschok and another from Ben Anderson to go in at half time 3-0 up with new goalkeeper Craig McCreeth barely tested in his second game.

The second goal in particular was particularly special, McCreeth opting to lob the all to Pele Hagger on the left wing, a deft touch and turn found Anderson and he picked out Laschok to finish with some confidence.

Jamie Williams won his second game since taking over from Jon Laugharne in the Woodley hot seat and will have been pleased with his sides performance, but there was plenty to think about in the second as the visitors fought back to 3-2 in the final 10 minutes of the game.

It was certainly a closer finish than the hosts would’ve been comfortable with but Laschok put all worries to bed with a penalty and a completed hat trick in his final moments of the game.

One highlight of Football in Berkshire’s visit, apart from putting our money where our mouth is and operating the turnstile for the game, was learning about Woodley’s new goalkeeper Craig McCreeth who’s day job is as Reading FC Women’s goalkeeping coach.

By no coincidence at all, the Kestrels assistant manager is Reading FC Women goalkeeper Rachael Laws, who is coached by McCreeth. Supporters at Scours Lane were treated to a bit of a role reversal as Laws warmed up her coach for the game.
