Ascot United win at Chalvey Sports and Slough Town beaten in pre season

A late goal on Tuesday night earned Combined Counties League Premier Division side Ascot United a 2-1 win at Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East Chalvey Sports.

The Yellamen led before Tom Williams levelled for the Stabmonks in a game played at Burnham Grammar School.

Over at Arbour Park, Slough Town were beaten 2-0 by AFC Bournemouth under 23s making it three pre season defeats now for the Rebels.

In mitigation, Slough have faced sides placed in higher divisions than themselves in their fixtures so far and as joint-manager Jon Underwood said in the Slough Observer: “It was a great work out for us against a very lively side. Youngsters at a Premier League club are not going to be bad players.”

Former Windsor and Bracknell Town attacker Dan Roberts started up front for the Rebels and played 45 minutes while Joe Grant came on for Warren Harris on the hour.

Wokingham & Emmbrook were beaten 1-0 at Premier Division Virginia Water with the home side dispatching a late penalty through Adam McNamara.

Hungerford Town’s big game against a Swindon Town XI finished with the Robins winning 4-1 at Bulpit Lane in front of a crowd of 419.

Finally, there will be a round up from Shay Bottomley here of Maidenhead United’s 1-0 win over Kuwait with a goal from new signing Danny Whitehall.
