The Berks & Bucks FA under 18 side were crowned South & West Counties champions on Sunday despite a much changed squad and travel nightmare down to the South West.
Having won the first three fixtures against Devon, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire, the county side knew they would be crowned champions with a win in Cornwall.
The match, played at St Blazey’s Blaise Park ground was delayed by two hours due to travel issues with Aaron Steadman’s side only able to do a 15 minute warm up.
Steadman’s side were greatly reduced by both injury and fixture clashes but still managed to lift the trophy thanks to a 3-2 win.
Berks & Bucks raced to a 2-0 lead but were pegged back to 2-2 at half time, the winner coming in the second half. The goals came from a Connor Holland hat trick Windsor’s Jack Hall and two for Connor Holland.
Berks & Bucks FA: Ben Parslow, Adam McLaughlin, Jack Lynch, Dom Reid, Max Bowles, Josh Harris, Sam Jones, Connor Holland, Jack Hall, James Richardson and George Alexander.
After the win, Steadman said: “Champions!!! What a day for the squad. Deserve so much praise for what they’ve achieved not only this afternoon but throughout the season.”
