Ascot United maintained their lead at the top of the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division on Tuesday night with a 1-0 win over Virginia Water.
The Yellamen left it late, but captain Louis Bouwers scored the only goal of the game in injury time as Jamie Tompkins side made it three wins in a row.
For the visitors it was a second defeat in a row after exiting the FA Vase on Saturday but they’ve made a real fight of their first season at step 5 taking points off Royal Wootton Bassett Town and Wantage Town in recent weeks.
Wokingham & Emmbrook manager Dan Bateman was full of praise for his side following their 3-3 draw in Division 1 East with Chalvey Sports at Larges Lane.
The Sumas were 2-0 up through a Jake White double when Ben Broadhurst was sent off for a high boot and Chalvey clawed their way back to 2-2 in the second half.
Youngster Josh Harris made it 3-2 with full time approaching but Chalvey again levelled to take a share of the points.
Bateman tweeted: “Some game that tonight. Forced to dig deep in the second half but lads gave me everything being up against it for long periods. Ultimately an unlucky red card cost us 2 points but more then pleased with the performance and a thoroughly deserved draw.”
AFC Aldermaston’s early season form was penned back by Burnham who won 5-3 at home while Wallingford Town exited the County Cup, losing 4-3 on penalties to Risborough Rangers Reserves after a 1-1 draw in normal time.
