FA Vase results: Wembley dream is over for Bracknell Town but Thatcham Town march on

North East side Marske United prove to strong at Larges Lane

Bracknell Town’s dream of a trip to Wembley in the FA Vase is over after the Robins suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Ebac Northern League side Marske United at a packed out Larges Lane.

With the attendance listed as 1142, it was one of the biggest modern days crowds at the Lane but it was the visitors who came out of the blocks quickest and ensuring Chris Grace was the busier of the two goalkeepers. Bracknell’s game plan was disrupted ten minutes in when centre back Jesse Wilson was carried off and replaced by midfielder Kensley Maloney.

Bracknell came in to the game and more than matched their opponents for a good half an hour with chances coming their way, the best falling to TJ Bohane but he saw his shot drag across the face of goal.

The deadlock was broken just before half time when the ball fell to Glen Butterworth who put the visitors 1-0 up.

Bracknell pushed hard in the second half but two further goals put the tie out of reach and ended Bracknell best ever run in the competition.

Elsewhere, disappointment for Windsor who lost 2-0 in the North East at Stockton Town but Thatcham Town go in to the semi finals after Ekow Elliott scored an 89th minute winner for the Kingfishers who beat Melksham Town 1-0 in Wiltshire.
