Late Lauren Broadhurst strike earns Ascot United draw in Berkshire derby

Centre back Lauren Broadhurst earned Ascot United a point in a Berkshire derby with Newbury at the Racecourse on Sunday afternoon.

The defenders 85th minute equaliser ensured the Yellawomen’s four game unbeaten league run continued and they remained two points ahead of their visitors in the Southern Region Women’s Premier Division.

In Division 1 North Wokingham & Emmbrook were beaten 2-0 by Wargrave – Alison Richardson scoring either side of half time while Woodley United’s League Cup trip to Fleet Town was postponed.

In the Thames Valley League Cup the same fate befell Binfield who saw visitors Standford Ladies pull out – the Moles have been awarded the tie while Ascot Ladies Reserves were beaten 7-0 by Abingdon United.

Finally, a big win for Sandhurst Town who beat Milton Keynes City 8-1 in their cup tie at Bottom Meadow. Shellie Irvine scored four while Nicola Dixon got two and Jessica Loomes and Sally Hall got one apiece.
