Midfielder George Short came to the rescue for Bracknell Town again on Monday night at Scours Lane as the Robins fought back for a point in a 2-2 draw with Highmoor Ibis.
Short along with striker Liam Ferdinand got the goals that salvaged a point after Ibis’s Mitch Parker had given the home side a 2-0 lead after 15 minutes.
Parker was forced to leave the field on 35 minutes but Marcus Richardson’s side were good for their half time lead.
Short’s goal was his second in two games after scoring a headed equaliser on Saturday at home to Abingdon United, this time though his goal halved the deficit and ensured a frantic and somewhat controversial final few minutes after Ferdinand levelled the game up.
With Bracknell pushing hard for a winner, the Scours Lane lights went out with three minutes of normal time to go, the referee having no option but to halt the game.
The floodlights have a bit of an unreliable history, going out last season when Woodley United hosted AFC Aldermaston but this time Highmoor tweeted ‘the fuse box tripped, thankfully all back on’.
The game did resume with another eight minutes played including injury time and Bracknell still had chances but ultimately had to settle for a point ensuring the unbeaten start is maintained but the 100% record is gone.
