In one of the most unlikely twists in a title race that many thought over, Bracknell Town are back at the top of the Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division going in to the final round of games on the 8th April.
At one point on what was a tough assignment at Brimscombe & Thrupp they were being held 1-1 while Thame United led 2-0 at Lydney, effectively handing the title to United.
Cue a torturous second half – plus the half hour extra at Thame due to their late arrival – a winner from TJ Bohane after Khalid Senussi had given Bracknell the lead and it was job done for Mark Tallentire’s side.
The win, and Thame’s lead would at least extend the title race to the final day where all United needed to do was beat Henley Town – themselves beaten 9-0 at Binfield on Saturday.

Then 20 minutes of pure drama at Lydney – all relayed via tweets and whatsapp messages a bit like watching the game via text on Championship Manager 2, Lydney not only pulled one back, they equalised!
AND HELD ON!

Thame had dropped a crucial two points on the road and allowed Bracknell to leapfrog them in the table on goal difference. What had seemed almost impossible on Saturday morning was a reality on Saturday afternoon.
Of course there could be one last swing as Thame visit Henley Town on Saturday and Bracknell host sixth placed Highworth Town at Larges Lane. IF Bracknell win, they will most likely be champions unless Thame can rack up a score against the Red Kites and overturn a seven goal difference between the sides.
See you in seven days when we’ll do it all again!
