Assistant Manager Matt Davis and Ethan Jerome struck the first half goals that won the Ascot & District Fielden Cup for the Moles, for the second year running writes Colin Byers.
Little to choose between the sides in an opening spell where both looked edgy. But once Binfield had the opening goal on 18 minutes when Davis met an in swinging free kick and was first to react when his initial header was parried, the Moles never looked like relinquishing their lead.
Manager Ellis Woods called the victory ‘a very nice way to end the season’.
Ethan Jerome beat the offside trap on 32 minutes and beat the Chalvey keeper, shortly after going close with a similar chance.
The second half saw the Moles spurn several chances to add to their lead, although Chalvey put Binfield under some pressure as the half wore on, with a 71st minute volley flashing across goal their best chance while Jamie McCarthy hit a terrific 30 yard volley in injury time that cannoned back off the bar.
With Davis and Luke May in control at the centre of the Moles defence and a solid goal keeping performance from youth team keeper Liam Vaughan, Binfield comfortably saw out the match and collected the trophy.
