Bracknell Town are looking to add as many as five new players to their squad ahead of the 2018/19 season.
The Bracknell News revealed player manager Carl Davies was looking additions to the squad and said: “The aim is to strengthen the squad and have competition for every position, which we haven’t had before. We also need cover for goalkeeper Chris Grace.”
In the same piece that you can read in full here, Davies said the club would undoubtedly miss the outgoing TJ Bohane but that the club already had a name in mind to replace him.
Bohane signed for Wantage Town last week but Davies said: “Obviously it will be difficult to replace him, but we have names in mind.”
In last weeks Wokingham Paper there was an excellent interview with Woodley United’s outgoing manager James Anderson.
The Kestrels were relegated after one season in the Hellenic League Premier and said of his decision to hand over the reigns: ““I very much wanted to stay a part of the club and wanted to perhaps help in the off-field ambitions of the club without necessarily having the responsibility of the day-to-day management of the first team.”
‘Why couldn’t they just leave Newbury there’
The Reading Chronicle has reported the tweeted comments of Southampton striker Charlie Austin who has hit out at West Berkshire Council over the treatment of Newbury FC.
The Saints forward said “Why couldn’t they just leave Newbury there and let them play their football so everyone is happy?
“As a local place, everyone has their joys at the moment, look at Thatcham Town after they won the vase, that was fantastic.
“But now we’re just destroying another local team. That’s the trouble with local football now.”
Across in East Berkshire, the Windsor Observer has reported that FA Vase Quarter Finalists Windsor have signed up midfielder Paul Coyne for another season.
The 32-year-old did admit though that work pressures meant it might be difficult week-in-week-out but said: “I’ll try to do my best for the club.”
